Families with children and/or teenagers
Knowing that their children are in good hands is a major concern for every parent. Childcare centres and schools are important places for children to learn, experience, and grow. They also give parents the security of being able to continue to pursue their professional ambitions. The region between the mountains and the lake offers many options.
Day nurseries
Day nurseries are facilities for children before kindergarten age, in most cases from 1-3 years old. The crèche helps young children settle into a group and learn about their strengths, preparing them for the kindergarten.

Kindergartens
Kindergartens are intended for children aged 3-6 years and usually open in the mornings from Monday to Friday. A typical day in kindergarten involves singing, crafting, and playing.

Childcare for children & youngsters
In addition, the Achensee region offers several afternoon childcare facilities.
- The Kinderhort „Arche“ in Achenkirch offers after school care and childcare during the holidays for children from kindergarten age.
- The after school care centre Hort Mosaik 4.14 in Maurach offers lunch for children between the ages of 4 to 14 years, followed by care in the after school care centre. The after school care centre also offers a varied programme during the holidays.
- For our youngsters, there is the Young Village youth project. In addition, there are numerous clubs that offer many options to spend your leisure time with like-minded people, depending on your interests.
Schools
There is compulsory schooling of nine years for all children living in Austria. The first four school years (from 6 to 10 years) are completed in primary school. From the fifth to the eighth school year, children attend a secondary school or a general education school. The ninth compulsory school year is spent in a polytechnic school or other types of school.
